About Me

I'm Christina Frenzel (she/her), a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I have a background in storytelling across many fields, including documentary filmmaking, which led me to become a therapist. This work proved to me how much can shift when a person finally puts their experience into words, and is understood and heard.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, including people who feel stuck in the same painful patterns and want to find their way back to themselves and those they love. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a genuine welcome to people from all walks of life.

My hope is to help you tell your own story, notice the themes that may be holding you back, and move toward a life that feels more fully your own.

Background

I studied Film Production and Psychology at the University of Southern California for my undergraduate degree and earned my graduate degree from The Wright Institute. Before becoming a therapist, I've worked across many different industries from the entertainment industry to media/journalism to tech. These experiences gave me a firsthand understanding of the challenges and pressures in these environments.

My Approach

I draw from several evidence-based modalities depending on what fits each client:

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy should adapt to you. Your brain, your history, your life, not the other way around.

My care is client-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed. I work from an LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and anti-racist stance. Given my background in journalism and documentary activism, I also bring a social justice and systems lens to my approach.

While I take this work seriously, I make room for creativity and humor. My personality style has been described as warm, collaborative, direct, transparent, and responsive to unique needs and methods of processing.
