How I work
Therapy with me isn't one-size-fits-all. I draw on several evidence-based approaches like EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, ACT, the Gottman Method, psychodynamic and relational therapy, and existential therapy.
Here's a closer look at how I approach the areas I most often work with.
ADHD & AuDHD
Most of my neurodivergent clients arrive having spent years being told to just try harder. We start somewhere different: understanding how your particular brain works, and building systems and routines that work with it instead of against it. A lot of this work is also about unlearning shame: the long-accumulated sense that the way you function is a personal failing rather than a wiring difference. I draw on ACT to help you act on what matters even when your brain isn't cooperating, and on somatic and relational work to address the anxiety and self-criticism that so often ride alongside ADHD and AuDHD.
Trauma & PTSD
When something overwhelming hasn't been fully processed, the body keeps responding as if it's still happening. This can show up through hypervigilance, flashbacks, numbness, or a nervous system stuck on high alert. My trauma work is body-based as much as it is talk-based. With EMDR, we help your brain reprocess triggers and stuck memories so they lose their charge. With somatic work, we work gently with what's held in the body, at a pace your system can tolerate. The goal isn't to relive the past but to let it finally move through, so you can be more present in your life now.
Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety and depression often feed each other. The exhaustion of low mood, the churn of worry, the patterns that quietly keep you stuck. I work on two levels at once: practical tools to get through the day, and the deeper question of what these states are responding to. ACT helps you make room for difficult feelings without letting them run the show and reconnect with what you actually value. Somatic, psychodynamic, and relational work address the way anxiety and depression live in the body, in your relationships, and historical patterns learned throughout childhood and life.
Relationships & Couples
Whether you come on your own or with a partner, relationship work is about the patterns that play out between people. We'll explore how conflict escalates, how needs go unspoken, how trust frays and gets rebuilt. With couples I draw on the Gottman Method, which gives us concrete, research-backed tools for communication, repair, and intimacy. For individuals, psychodyanmic and relational therapy helps you understand the dynamics you tend to recreate and what you want instead. This is also a space for the harder things: triggers, disconnection, and deciding what you want a relationship to be.
Chronic Illness & Disability
The emotional toll of navigating a world that isn't built for every body brings grief, labor and burnout due to constant adaptation, the exhaustion of advocating for yourself in systems that aren't built for you. I won't meet that with toxic positivity or pressure to find the silver lining. Instead we make room for the grief and medical trauma that can occur, work somatically with a nervous system under chronic strain, and use ACT and existential therapy to help you make sense of and find meaning in whatever situation you're dealt.
Creative & Career Blocks
Before becoming a therapist I worked in entertainment and tech, so I know the particular pressures of creative and high-output work: burnout, impostor syndrome, perfectionism, and the kind of creative paralysis that can feel like part of you has gone quiet. We'll look at what's underneath the blocks like anxiety, old stories about worth and performance, or a nervous system that's been running on empty, and work toward a relationship with your work aligned with your values and goals.
